4. INVEST TIME AND ENERGY ON INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND GUESTS: They can teach students!

More and more students travel around the globe for their undergraduate and graduate studies. It is an opportunity for them to know the other language and culture. Most universities welcome them but do not really seem to care about their presence. With a few incentives, though, they could organize language clubs, get integrated in thematic language and culture groups, visit language classes, and co-teach with well-trained instructors. Could they be credited (i.e. receive course units) for such activities? Could these types of tasks be integrated in their curriculum? 

 

The same applies to international visitors and guest professors. They come in larger and larger numbers and audit courses for free. Theyr could be organized as a powerforce that would bring a cosmopolitan perspective on campus. Not only through their lectures and advice, but through their participation in thematic activities that target language, culture, and broader transdisciplinary and social goals.
